POFC Continues to Build Community Connections at Off Season Events

PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club won the CPL2 Championship back on July 30 to end the club’s dramatic debut season. Since then efforts to build community connections have continued with POFC participating in three different events.

On August 26 POFC attended the South Kitsap Soccer Club Kick Off Jamboree at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Retsil.

Scores of teams in various age groups and their families gathered to celebrate the start of the fall soccer season. Some posed with the CPL2 trophy. Others got into an impromptu scrimmage with POFC player Nick Riders.

On Sunday August 27 POFC held a Championship Gathering at Marina Park on the waterfront. See coverage of that event here.

On Saturday night September 9 POFC had a booth at the Port Orchard Night Market.

“We had a lot of good conversations with people who didn’t know about our club but now they do,” says Assistant GM Tyler Brown. There were basic questions about what sport the club plays and when the season is. There were also player families and fans who are already on board. Shannon Tierney and Tracy Nickerson helped staff the booth for POFC.

“We really appreciate our volunteers keeping the momentum of the season going even two months later,” says POFC Coordinator David Falk. “We are very fortunate to have dedicated people. The club and our supporters have really enjoyed getting to know new fans and sharing about our first season.”

There will be more to come. The long-range forecast has Port Orchard FC helping Port Orchard Eagles on their bingo nights in January 2024.
