PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club is partnering with Port Orchard business Skilled Crafting to deliver new quality fan gear to POFC supporters. The online store will officially open on Monday October 30.
Matt McDaniel and Paul Wheeler started Skilled Crafting to help build up and celebrate youth sports in the community.
Matt has been a resident of Kitsap County for 42 years. He works full time in law enforcement but is an active volunteer with local youth sports in addition to his work with Skilled Crafting.
Paul Wheeler has been a resident of Kitsap for 10 years and is employed as a Operating Engineer in Seattle. He has been active in coaching youth sports as well.
Matt and Paul shared some photos as pre-production and testing of POFC gear got underway. See the gallery below.
In a post-season survey POFC fans clearly stated they would love to have caps to wear. Skilled Crafting is getting to those right away, sharing a few photos of choices. “We are excited to see what else Matt and Paul come up with,” says Club Coordinator David Falk. “We are also pleased that our new online store keeps it local and is right here in Port Orchard.”
Matt and Paul sent us a statement about why Skilled Crafting was founded. Our origin began with a passion for building youth sports in our community. We’ve served as volunteer board members for local sport clubs and have many years of experience coaching soccer, baseball, and football. As coaches, we experienced the difficulties in finding quality, low-cost options for team wear. As parents, we experienced the frustration of going to a tournament and wanting to purchase a hoodie for our kids, only to find out that the average cost for that hoodie was $60-80!
So what could they do about it? Fast forward a few years and we turned our frustrations into a small business that has the primary goal of providing quality team wear, small business promotional items, and other goods at a much lower price point. Our prices aren’t an indicator of low quality, but of a desire to put more “team spirit” into our local teams!
So now the Skilled Crafting guys are teaming up with Port Orchard Football Club. They are already fans in the stands at matches. Now they will help their fellow fans find gear they love.
We are excited to partner with POFC as we are both committed to building a strong sense of community around our local sports programs. POFC and their fans have set a high bar of success and excitement during their inaugural season and we are looking forward to generating additional excitement through our offerings.
