A Silver Star Is Born For Port Orchard FC Kits In 2024

PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club (POFC) will wear a silver star above the crest on its new 2024 kits as the club arrives in the First Division of the Cascadia Premier League (CPL1.) How this happened is now the stuff of local soccer legend.

Dave Radovich called and recorded many of our games last season,” explains POFC Club Coordinator David Falk. “When the club made a post on our Facebook group page about new kits coming in 2024, Dave said to be sure to include a gold star for the 2023 CPL2 Championship.” That wouldn’t be the last input on the topic, though.

POFC supporter Jared Chapman is sharp on the usual ‘star’ traditions in world football. Jared followed Dave’s comment with a reply that tradition dictates the gold star is worn by the club who most-recently won the competition they are playing in.

“Jared nailed it. Wenatchee All Stars FC are the three-time winners of the CPL1, and they should wear another gold star in 2023,” says Falk. “But then what should POFC do to honor their CPL2 title earning promotion to the CPL1? Enter Cascadia Premier League President Mitch James.” James suggested a silver star and immediately gave his approval to the idea.

In a matter of less than an hour, POFC, their fans and the CPL had begun a new tradition as it was decided the current promoted team from the CPL2, POFC, would wear a silver star their first season in the CPL1. Falk quickly whipped up some graphics and the announcement was made. The league will do this going forward.

“We love that our supporters have ideas and input on things both big and small when it comes to operating POFC,” Falk beams. “Dave and Jared got the ball rolling, and now our kit designers at Levo have been instructed to include silver stars above our crests in 2024.”
