Nick Riders Repeats Winning Formula Against Steel United

PORT ORCHARD, WA—The circumstances were different on Sunday but the end result and match-winning goal had similarities to the last time Port Orchard FC and Steel United met at Kitsap Bank Stadium.

Nick Riders scored the eventual match-winner over Steel on May 7, 2023 and on May 19, 2024 he did the same thing again. Last year it was the first-ever POFC goal in the club’s CPL2 opener. This year Riders was part of a fierce rally in a preseason friendly.

Bremerton Grads For The Win

Sunday’s 4th POFC goal was the winner in an eventual 6-3 triumph. This time Nick connected with a fellow grad of Bremerton High, Jeremy Ford. It was a beautiful give and go sequence that Riders started out top. His ball found Ford who returned the favor with a perfect pass leading Riders to the far post.

Jesse MacKenzie captured the celebration following Nick’s winner.

In 2023 POFC went on to score 7 more goals after Riders’ opener. This year the club added 2 more in what was a much tougher match. Afterward Nick confessed he was hoping his goal would stand up as the match winner. He got his wish, and a repeat performance a year later.
