The Tall Firs currently stand in fourth place in the table, the final playoff spot. One match remains on July 8 at Wenatchee. POFC will be watching for results from other clubs to see how the race plays out. FC Olympia is one point behind POFC and plays in Spokane against WE Surf on June 28. Jeff Graham’s Kitsap Sun coverage of the match shares some playoff numbers.
Port Orchard dominated play throughout the match against Wenatchee. Early on though the club was struggling to make the final finishing touch.
POFC broke through before halftime on goals from Harper Sabari, Michael Divano and Jonathan Mendoza. The 3-0 lead was a cushion that relaxed the guys for an even bigger second half outburst.
Jeremy Ford dished out 3 assists in the second half. Ben Wilkinson scored 3 goals (a hat trick), Pepe DeLuna scored 2 goals (hist first two with the Tall Firs) and Vinny Self added one as well in the blow out.
The big goal total was a boost for POFC’s goal differential. The Tall Firs are now at +6, second best behind only Bellingham’s +9.
