Mark Nowak Joins POFC As Assistant Coach

PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard FC Head Coach Pat Leonard has added to his coaching staff as Mark Nowak joins POFC as Assistant Coach ahead of the club’s debut season in the Cascadia Premier League.

Nowak (pronounced “No-Vack”) is currently a coach with Bainbridge Island FC, works with Leonard in the Central Kitsap High School Boys program, and is also an assistant at Peninsula College in Port Angeles. Mark operates his own goalkeeper training business called Gorilla Goalkeeping. The New York state native competed in college at New Paltz / SUNY.

“Mark will work closely with me as my number two,” says Head Coach Leonard. “He has impressive experience coaching at high levels and also has a unique background of goalkeeping experience, which is an added bonus. Mark, Sam (Gomez), and myself work really well together and I am excited to now bring that to POFC.”

In the video featured on this page Nowak expresses excitement at joining POFC and mentions the impressive supporters base as one reason.

Building A “Great Club”

“Mark brings so much to what we are aiming to accomplish at this great club,” Leonard says. “He’s a coach I’ve worked closely with and trust, which is needed in a back room staff. His knowledge of the game is great and his coaching background is impressive. He is the exact character of personnel that we are looking to build our club with.”

“Mark is a coach that naturally contributes to building a culture of success and creates an environment players want to play in. I am confident that Mark not only enhances our training and tactics, but he also enhances the culture.”
