Patrick Leonard Named First Head Coach Of Port Orchard FC

PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club is pleased to announce that Patrick Leonard will be the first head coach for the brand new Cascadia Premier League men’s team.

Leonard has a decade of coaching experience in the greater Kitsap area and over time has developed a soccer network of players, coaches and contacts. He will bring these experiences along with a passion for the local game in building the soccer culture at POFC.

“I think having the opportunity to coach the highest most competitive level of soccer representing Kitsap County is an offer I couldn’t turn down,” Leonard says of joining POFC. “It’s a very proud moment for me to step into such an exciting opportunity.”

POFC Coordinator David Falk likes Leonard’s passion. He’s seen it on display since the days of the Kitsap Pumas. “I have known Patrick since he was a teenager. He was part of a supporters group of young guys for the Pumas. They were passionate about that team and his passion for local soccer still runs strong.”

Now 29, Leonard has been coaching since his late teens and most recently led the Central Kitsap High School Cougars men’s soccer program into the WIAA State Tournament in 2022. He remains head coach of that program. He’s got a long tradition as a Cougar, including playing his senior year in the WIAA State title match for CK.

Patrick moved to the Kitsap area from Merritt Island, Florida when he was 16. He attended Central Kitsap High School, then Olympic College, and is currently finishing a Master’s Degree online via WGU. He’s been on the CKHS men’s soccer staff for nine years. He also has coached at youth club Seattle Celtic. He currently has his “C” US Soccer coaching license, putting him on a path towards the semi-pro level.

Patrick describes his style of coaching as player-focused and attack-oriented. He’s a fierce competitor. He is of Scotish heritage and has visited Scotland previously, taking in matches along the way.

Leonard is excited to get going. The POFC opportunity arrived quickly, but he’s ready to make the most of it. “I’m really looking forward to stepping into this role and helping create a team that plays an attacking and exciting style of soccer that our community can get behind and enjoy supporting,” he says.
