PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club scored an important 2-0 win over Nido Aguila Club America Seattle (Nido Seattle) on Sunday July 6 at Kitsap Bank Stadium. The victory puts Port Orchard within close reach of a playoff spot and the Cascadia Premier League Rainier Division title.
German player (Freiburg) Joschi Schelb scored both goals for POFC while midfielder Calvin Moe earned praise for his all-over-the-pitch effort on both offense and defense. Moe drew a penalty kick in the first half that was converted by Schelb. In the second half he was part of a team effort possession that eventually resulted in Ryan Anderson’s cross to Schelb for the second goal.

The 2-0 win lifted POFC’s overall record to 6-0-1 and 5-0-1 in league play where the club sits in first place in the CPL1 Rainier Division on 16 points. Port Orchard has two matches remaining in the regular season: Tuesday July 15 v. Nido at 7 PM in an away match that is now going to be played at Bremerton Memorial Stadium, and July 20 at home against Bigfoot FC 2.

Playoffs Close, Division Title One Win Away
The “Magic Number” for finishing in a playoff spot is currently 17 points. The “Magic Number” for winning the Rainier Division is 19 standings points. Depending on other results this week, POFC could take both without taking the pitch. Otherwise, the last two matches for the club are both chances to get to 19 points without outside results. Draw one of the two and playoffs are assured. Win one of the two and it’s playoffs and a second-ever division title.
The 2025 CPL1 playoff semifinals and finals will be held Friday July 25 and Sunday July 27 at Washington Premier Soccer Complex in Puyallup.
Historically speaking the win was also a big one for POFC. It is the first time the club has beaten Nido at home or during the regular season. Port Orchard’s first-ever match back on April 30, 2023 was a 1-0 friendly loss to Nido at Kitsap Bank Stadium.

Later in 2023 the clubs would meet in the CPL2 final and POFC would earn promotion with a win over Nido Seattle 2.
In 2024 the clubs renewed a budding rivalry in the First Division as Nido took the name “Tacoma Stars Reserves” and won 4-2 in Port Orchard and 5-4 in Tacoma.
This time POFC was more than ready, facing a Nido roster of all stars from Seattle down to Federal Way and Tacoma. Head coach Patrick Leonard countered with a truly Kitsap-fueled starting 11 and his young guns showed they were worthy of the trust their coach displayed in them.
