Port Orchard FC Joins Cascadia Premier League Starting In 2023

PORT ORCHARD, WA—The Cascadia Premier League (CPL) has approved the application of Port Orchard Football Club (POFC) to join the elite adult men’s regional soccer competition beginning with the 2023 season.

“We are very excited to join the CPL and to begin our life as a club,” POFC Coordinator David Falk says. “I have lived in Port Orchard on and off since 1980 and full time since 1998. This is home, so helping a men’s team take root here is special for me.”

The Cascadia Premier League is a growing regional league for highly skilled players and offers a chance to play and compete after high school or college. Port Orchard FC hopes to draw players from around West Sound.

Earlier POFC revealed the design concept behind their crest. Next the club will announce its first-ever head coach. The club will continue efforts to attract volunteers to build the best organization possible.

Interest From Players

“We posted a player interest survey recently and were pleased with the response,” Falk says. “It showed an interest from all kinds of players at various stages in their soccer careers. We will work to make POFC a team that really good Kitsap-area players strive to be a part of.”

Public Open Tryouts are expected to be held at the end of March.

Working Our Way Up

The CPL season runs from the end of April through the end of July. POFC are expected to have around 5 home and 5 away matches for a season of 10. The CPL features a promotion and relegation format. Port Orchard will begin in the second division with sights on going up as soon as possible.

“We like the way the CPL is changing the landscape of adult soccer in the Pacific Northwest,” says Falk. “It really makes a club like ours possible.”
