PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club is pleased to reveal that it has been granted 501c3 nonprofit tax status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The club’s mission to establish and operate an elite men’s soccer team in Kitsap County now carries the additional benefits associated with this classification.

Important Step For POFC

“This is a very important step for POFC,” says Club Coordinator David Falk. “Now those who wish to help us from around our community can do so knowing they will be able to claim their donations as tax deductions.”
The club will not be required to pay any federal income tax. There are also a host of private and government grants available only to applicants with 501c3 status.
“We filed papework as a nonprofit corporation in Washington state right from the very beginning,” Falk says. “We knew our mission was something we wanted to share and invite the public to be a part of.”

Learn, Plan, Engage
POFC will be exploring the benefits and associated responsibilites of the classification in the coming weeks.
The end of the playing season in early August will see plans come into focus about operating as a 501c3 nonprofit and how the club can extend the best advantages back to donors and the community.
Then POFC will continue to engage in the offseason with local businesses who are interested in joining our growing soccer outreach.
