2024 CPL Schedule: 8 Matches For POFC To Claim Playoff Spot

PORT ORCHARD, WA—The 2024 Cascadia Premier League Rainier Division schedule for Port Orchard Football Club has been revealed. In their first season in the top tier POFC will play 8 eight matches in the club’s efforts to finish first or second and secure a championship playoffs spot.

(Full details on venues and times will be posted as they become official.)

Rainier Division Settles In With Five Teams

The recent news that Pacific Northwest Soccer Club (Pac NW) Men were dropping out of the CPL1 for 2024 was followed quickly by a schedule resolution for the remaining five Rainier Division teams. Port Orchard will play home and away against Tacoma Stars Reserves, Sporting International (Tukwila), Eastside FC (Preston) and Washington Premier FC (Puyallup.)

CPL1 Playoffs July 26 & 28

POFC hopes to repeat last year’s playoff appearance in the new, higher league. The CPL First Division semifinals will be held on Friday July 26. The Championship Final will follow on Sunday July 28.

Friendlies Will Add Variety, Fun To POFC Home Season

Port Orchard Football will also play three friendlies at Kitsap Bank Stadium in 2024. Steel United on May 19, FC International on July 14 and FC Oly on July 20.

“We want to give our players and supporters (at least) six home matches, like we did in 2023,” says Club Coordinator David Falk. “We think these matches will be fun and provide some variety in styles as we host clubs from outside of the CPL.” POFC will thus deliver seven home matches in 2024.

Season Passes Still Only $40 For Adults

Despite the addition of three friendlies, POFC season passes will remain at $40 for adults, $25 for youth ages 6-17, and $25 for seniors 62+ and active or retired military.

Rainier Division Up For Grabs In 2024

The dropping out by PacNW sees last year’s Rainier fisrt-place team out for 2024. It was a confusing end to the previous season as a final match between PacNW and Lacey Lights was never played. Points gave the division to PacNW, but they declined their playoff spot, sending Lacey Lights and Eastside FC into the 2023 playoffs. Both Rainier Division sides lost their semifinal matches to Columbia Division clubs Wenatchee All Stars FC and Walla Walla FC.

Wenatchee eventually beat Walla Walla to claim their third straight CPL trophy.

The drama continued after the season with Lacey Lights leaving the CPL and merging with FC Oly. They then joined the Evergreen Premier League as FC Oly’s second team.

Two Gone, One Up…and No Relegation In Rainier

The CPL has declared that with the departure of Lacey Lights and the dropping out of Pac NW that the five-team Rainier Division will not have a team relegated in 2024. Port Orchard FC earned promotion into the Rainier by winning the 2023 CPL2 title. This year former POFC foes Grays Harbor Gulls, Steel United, Twin City Union and Thurston County FC out of the Pacific Division will battle to earn promotion along with the clubs from the Cascade Division.
