PORT ORCHARD, WA—Port Orchard Football Club (POFC) will compete in the Cascadia Premier League First Division (CPL1) in 2025, marking the club’s third straight season in the elite regional league.

“Moving into season three in the Cascadia Premier League just makes sense for us as we enter 2025,” says General Manager Sam Ironside. “There is no doubt that it has been the most beneficial league for us schedule wise and player availability wise. It is a league we have established ourselves in from the very beginning. Above all, getting so close last season (falling 1-0 in the championship final), I feel like this chapter of POFC is still being written. We have a CPL1 title in our sights.”

The return to another season in the CPL will ensure POFC’s budding rivalry with the Tacoma Stars Reserves continues in league play. Tacoma has also committed to return in 2025. Other opponents will be revealed as the league fills out this spring, including newly-promoted CPL2 Champions Washington Premier FC Legends (Puyallup.)

Port Orchard FC far and away leads attendance in the Cascadia Premier League. The club drew 4,013 fans in 2023 (six matches) for a home average of 669. Last year in the First Division POFC drew 4,243 (seven matches) but saw the average dip to 606. The numbers are fueled by season pass sales. In 2024 Port Orchard distributed 483 home season lanyards.

POFC Head Coach Patrick Leonard recognizes the role of the CPL in the 2023 launch of his club. “When this club first originated, it was the CPL that offered a space for POFC. I am always a fan of their willingness to stay true to how soccer should be, promotion and relegation, with the best teams being the ones that rise to the top. It’s not a league where you can buy your way in and I have a true appreciation for that.”

Leonard agrees with Ironside that there is more to do for POFC in the CPL. “As a coach, I can’t help but feel our story in the CPL is still being written. Our ambition is always to entertain the supporters with our play and win titles for them to pay them back for how they support us. We are not entitled to anything, but we want to work to fulfill our story in the CPL and I am excited for the next chapter in 2025.”

CPL leader Mitch James says of the return of POFC, “As the technical director of the Cascadia Premier League, I am delighted to hear that Port Orchard FC are returning in 2025. Their professionalism on and off the field makes them one of our leaders in pushing the highest standards possible.”

Mitch will be on the sidelines when POFC plays Washington Premier FC Legends. “As a coach of one of the other teams in the CPL, I am also looking forward to the energy they bring to the games. Players, staff and fans!” says James.
