Poulsbo’s Jonathan Mendoza Joins POFC, Mexico Trip Next

PORT ORCHARD, WA—North Kitsap Vikings graduate and soccer star Jonathan Mendoza is joining Port Orchard Football Club. Fans who want to make sure they see Mendoza in a POFC kit will want to attend the opening friendly on April 30 against Nido Club America Seattle because Mendoza is getting on a plane right after to head to Mexico to try out for several clubs down there.

Jonathan will travel with fellow Viking Diego DeLuna, who is also joining POFC for an appearance on Sunday before their trip. Port Orchard FC would love to have both for a full season but the club appreciates their desire to move up in the soccer world and supports such efforts of players in the Kitsap soccer scene.

“Jonathan is a bright guy and a talented player,” says POFC Coordinator David Falk. “He would certainly help us in our debut CPL season. He’s part of the team but we are excited to follow what happens when he and Diego head down to Mexico to train with clubs. POFC supports Kitsap players at all stages of their careers, before going pro, and of course welcoming former professionals who are back home but still desire to compete.”
